Lafarge group initiates energy measurement with Power-Star meters.
As one of the leaders in the building materials industry, Lafarge has a manufacturing and supply footprint across South Africa and 89 other countries. This presents it with an opportunity to address energy concerns across a variety of different sites.
Lafarge specialises in supplying innovative cement, concrete, and aggregates solutions that meet the needs of their clients.
Lafarge Cement – Randfontein Grinding Station
Lafarge is a leading supplier of quality cement products to Readymix producers, concrete product manufacturers, builders and contractors.
The Randfontein Grinding Station recently installed Power-Star’s online electricity meters in order to better understand their energy usage profile. This analysis of measured energy used across the site will provide better insights as to where energy management initiatives can be explored. Using the bill verification option in the Power-Star remote monitoring dashboard will provide Lafarge the opportunity to check their monthly bill against metered data for inaccuracies.
Benchmarking analysis of energy use against daily production provides another metric to gauge efficiency and costs of production. Future developments at this site may include power factor monitoring and control.
Lafarge Aggregates – Tygerberg Quarry
Lafarge offers product delivery, technical support and expertise on a full range of crusher rock, sand and stone for the civil/roads, commercial, residential and industrial construction sectors.
The Tygerberg Quarry in the Tygerberg Hills excavates and grinds rock into various sizes for asphalt and other construction materials.
The Tygerberg Quarry will utilise the Power-Star energy measurement system (meters and software) to measure energy and record the electricity usage on the site. They intend to perform monthly bill verification, daily production yields vs energy use benchmarking and various other energy management interventions once opportunities have been discovered.
